He was a man, a great man. A man that believed we could change. A man that had a dream. He dreamed that one day we could cash in America’s promissory note, a promise giving all of us the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Its time to cash in. Today, 57 years after his historic speech we are still dissatisfied. From police brutality, to the systematic oppression preventing good housing, and education we are still not satisfied. 57 years later and I say this, we can do better. He had a dream that we could all live together, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, Muslims and all. He saw the systematic racism and yet he dreamed we could be something different. He had a dream that one day we would let freedom ring. That day is now. 57 years later and it’s now up to us to see this dream through. It is up to us to let freedom ring!
