HART FOR SENATE
Can Adam Hamilton flip a Senate seat in Kansas? Analysts chime in
The megachurch pastor faces a crowded primary, questions over his positions on abortion, and a state that hasn't sent a Democrat to the U.S. Senate since 1932.

A couple of candidates (Taylor and Schmidt) apparently think they can show themselves to be fighters by throwing social media molotovs. That is not leadership. It is a distraction.
A far more voter-informative approach is this: invite Hamilton into a public forum where he can explain his positions and his plans, in comparison to your positions and your plans, and then let the voters make an informed choice.
That is exactly what I am doing. I have invited Pastor Adam Hamilton to join me at an event I’m hosting for Ford County Democrats in Dodge City on Wednesday, May 20 at 6:30 p.m., where we will each have equal time to discuss our plans, priorities, and answer voter questions directly. I am confident enough in my credentials, my positions, and my plans to do that.
I have also encouraged the KS Democratic Party to take two constructive steps moving forward. First, coordinate a series of debates across Kansas over the next 90 days. Second, ask every candidate to publicly commit to financially supporting whoever wins the primary.
Those two steps would help prevent unnecessary depletion of resources that should ultimately be focused on defeating Roger Marshall, maximize the eventual general election war chest, and ease the burden on county party organizations already operating with limited resources.
That is what leadership looks like: providing innovative and rational solutions for problems, while trying to maximize access for voters.
On the other hand, the "giving them black eyes" strategy is no strategy at all. It's performative marketing. It shuts down discussion. It prevents voters from accessing information and judging credibility.
I’ve been a public servant for 21+ years. As a prosecutor, one thing I know from juries (who are voters) is that they want facts, not personal attacks. Kansans deserve better.
