In 2018, more than 2.8 million people in Florida were without health insurance of ANY type. That’s nearly 14 percent of the population!!! Twenty percent of those individuals were of the WORKING population and about 8 percent were children. The numbers for 2019 are expected to be higher because people are no longer required to have insurance or pay a tax penalty. Furthermore, a Gallup survey found that Americans “borrowed” $88 billion in 2018 just to pay for healthcare!!! These numbers are very real and so are the many people negatively impacted by our broken medical system. My stance is simple. HEALTHCARE IS A HUMAN RiGHT!!! No one should lose their life because of the inability to pay for the medical services he/she needs. I fully support Medicaid expansion in Florida because it will provide healthcare to over 800,000 residents. Let’s start there!!! I will not ignore them and I will continue to advocate to ensure their voices are adequately represented. #LylesforHD43 https://secure.actblue.com/donate/lylesforhd43 “If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded.” -Maya Angelou
