I’m here at the southern border for the second time, and the reality is that it’s chaos down here.
When I was here last in June of 2019, I came with a Democrat Member, who returned home and called what we saw together a “humanitarian crisis”. Now that things are exponentially worse with a 173% increase in illegal border crossings, including two men on the terror watchlist, the silence is deafening from the left. The great men and women of the Border Patrol are encountering over 3,000 illegal aliens a day. Where is the compassion for the thousands of women and children that are being trafficked across the border and sexually or physically abused along the way? There is not one individual who is smuggled illegally across the border that is not paying the cartels a fee to do so. The Cartels are making approximately $14 million a day with human and drug trafficking that is being enabled and incentivized by Biden policies. If the Cartels could have a vote, they would vote unanimously to keep these Biden policies in place indefinitely.
While Biden policies are making the cartels rich, he wants to increase taxes on the American people – how backwards is this?
The humanitarian crisis at the border was bad in June of 2019 leading up to the Trump administration’s implementation of common sense policies like the “Remain in Mexico” policy that required asylum seekers to wait in Mexico for their hearings, and the construction of the border wall that significantly stifled illegal border crossings (34,460 total illegal border crossings in the year 2020). The Washington Post is now reporting that between 500,000 and 800,000 illegal migrants will have arrived by the end of this fiscal year under the Biden Administration. The Biden administration has placed a moratorium on deportations, removed the remain in Mexico policy, reinstituted catch and release, prepared to sell congressionally approved materials for the completion of the wall as scrap metal, and instituted policies that allow individuals who illegally come with children 6 years of age or younger, to be released in the country with no questions asked. These policies are magnets for illegal immigration and all the suffering that comes with it – illegal immigration is not a victimless crime.
