Rebecca Whiting
First, I'm planning on being at this event. It appears as though the weather will be beautiful. Since it's already October, I consider that a gift. Come out and see me, and let's talk about school board stuff. Next, I want to talk about the dismissive attitude that seems to be prevalent in school boards. I'd like to address that. There's no worse feeling than having a legitimate concern and being blown off by the very people that are supposed to be the bridge of reason. A lot of people ask me what I can bring to the school board and part of that is being a listener. The kind of person that not just listens but takes in what people are saying and can do something productive with it. My advantage at this point is that I have no allegiance with any group. That was intentional on my part when I started this, because I see the need to just be a voice of the people. The people being not just parents and students, but teachers, staff, and community members. Everybody has stake in the outcome of the schools. Your concerns are valid, and if I had a concern I'd like very much for somebody who can to help me through it. If that's the way I'd want to be treated, then I have to dedicate myself first to being that for others. None of the problems that the school districts are facing will be solved if there is not an atmosphere of mutual respect, honesty, transparency, accountability- where we value each other's roles, experience, and concerns. Then reach an agreement together in good faith. To get that, you have to be that. Also, I am running a complete grassroots campaign. I have no big donors and no backing of any group. Because of that I am relying 100% on people seeing what I write, liking it, reacting, commenting, and sharing. So, if you can, please share this post. It helps me reach a wider audience. Also, tell your friends! Word of mouth works! Look for me on the ballot November 8th and don't forget about this event! Let's make a conversation. #whitingforbemidji https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=129894616497721&id=100084315490558&sfnsn=mo
