This week is Teacher's Appreciation Week, and today I had the privilege of visiting my high school algebra teacher, Doc Voorhies, at Catholic High, New Iberia. As I walked through the familiar halls of my alma mater, I was flooded with memories of the invaluable lessons he taught me both inside and outside the classroom. Doc Voorhies, an educator who has devoted over 40 years of his life to shaping young minds, shared a profound idea with me: the impact that expressing gratitude to our past teachers could have on their lives. This simple act of appreciation would help acknowledge the difference they have made in the lives of their students. His words struck a chord in my heart, as I realized the profound impact he and many other teachers have had on countless students, including myself. As a student, Doc Voorhies's passion for teaching and dedication to our success inspired me to strive for greatness and never give up. He is not just a teacher, but also a mentor and a friend. So, during this Teacher's Appreciation Week, I want to express my deepest gratitude to Doc Voorhies and all the teachers who have made a lasting impact on our lives. You are the unsung heroes, and your unwavering commitment to your students will forever be cherished. To everyone reading this, I encourage you to take a moment this week to reach out to a teacher who made a difference in your life and let them know how much you appreciate them. A simple "thank you" goes a long way. #TeachersAppreciationWeek #ThankATeacher #NewIberiaCatholicHigh
