I’m running for re-election to keep leading with the values I learned growing up working class in Malden. In this moment of crisis, Massachusetts deserves a progressive leader who has always fought for justice, for working people, and for what is right – even when it wasn’t politically convenient
Growing up in a working class neighborhood in Malden, I learned to deliver when people were counting on me. That's why I was an original co-sponsor of Medicare for All and why I co-wrote the Green New Deal to fight climate change. And it’s why in this moment of crisis, I will continue leading on racial justice, economic justice, and the issues that matter most to the people of Massachusetts.
I may not come from wealth or power, but I had something wonderful: a community that taught me not to be afraid of the tough fights. From being an original co-sponsor of Medicare for All, to championing racial justice, to co-authoring a Green New Deal that will create good jobs while stopping climate change, I have never forgotten where I come from and who I’m fighting for.
As the son of a milkman and union leader, I learned my progressive values at my kitchen table. As a Senator, I’ve fought for Medicare for All, racial and economic justice, and bold action on climate change even when they weren’t politically popular – because I’ve never forgotten where I came from.
My father was a milkman. I drove an ice cream truck to pay for college. I’ve never forgotten where I came from, and as your Senator, I will never stop fighting for the working people of Massachusetts.
