I’m David Roth and I’m excited to announce my candidacy to represent Idaho’s Legislative District 33 in the State House of Representatives. I feel that Idahoans deserve leaders who will listen and take their concerns seriously. Above all, our State needs leaders who will put the best interests of Idahoans over their own.
The challenges facing our district and our State are great. We watched in disbelief as our State House of Representatives voted to eliminate the Idaho Education Standards against the advice of educators across the state. Our trust was further betrayed when Representative Zollinger put his personal interests over the interests of Idahoans in our district and the State.
I will represent the interests of our district and our State. I will work to put forth ideas that make sense for education, attract and support businesses, and encourage investment in our communities. I have spent more than half of my life in Idaho Falls, starting my first business here when I was still in high school. I spent time working with challenged youth in Salt Lake City, seeing first-hand the successful cooperation of government, business, and non-profit organization working together to solve problems. Most of my career has been spent in education looking at ways to meet the challenges of today’s learner in today’s job market.
As a foster parent, I saw first-hand the devastating effects of substance abuse, poor education, and lack of access to healthcare on families. There are real problems that we can work together to solve. Finally, as an entrepreneur who comes from a farming family, I understand that our State’s farmers have unique needs and fill a critical role in both our economy and the health of our families.
I am not a career politician, in fact I am just a common-sense dad who believes government should be efficient and serve the needs of the people with as little interference as possible. I believe that every dollar spent should be spent with the sole goal of improving the lives of all Idahoans. We should be focused on building each other up, not tearing each other down.
