My friend and mentor Bernie Sanders once told me this: “In politics, people succeed either by being really good at lying or really good at telling the truth. You strike me as someone who’s not good at lying — so your job is to get really good at telling the truth.” I could tell you a lot of truths about this campaign, but to keep it short, I’ll leave it at this one: I don’t love asking people for money. Every other candidate in this race has taken money from corporate PACs. They’ve decided it’s worth compromising their values for a massive campaign check. I refuse to go down that path. That’s why our campaign is 100% fueled by the people – because the best way to earn trust is by building a movement that fights for all of us, not corporate PACs. But, this only works if we all do our part. I send emails and run ads like this one to prove that together, we can build a strong campaign and win next November. If you’re able, will you chip in $10 or $15 today to help power our movement?

Standout elementBernie Sanders raising Abdul El-Sayed's hand in victory on stage — a powerful endorsement gesture
TacticThe ad leverages Bernie Sanders's mentor-endorsement and a truth-vs-lying narrative to emotionally justify a small-dollar fundraising ask, framing the candidate as the only uncorrupted choice in the race.
