For months, I’ve been warning that my opponent, Shelley Moore Capito, was giving in to Democrat demands and putting ICE funding on the chopping block. She supported cutting ICE out of the main funding bill, weakening Republican leverage when it mattered most. Now, months later, Chuck Schumer and the liberal media are celebrating, openly saying “Republicans ultimately conceded” after voting for a bill that strips ICE funding out of the DHS federal spending package. That’s exactly what I warned about, and it’s unacceptable. Thankfully, conservatives in the House of Representatives stepped up and stopped this bill. But the damage is clear: we cannot afford weak leadership in the U.S. Senate that caves under pressure. West Virginia deserves a Senator who will stand firm, protect our borders, and back ICE... not compromise with the people that want to weaken our country. Weak decisions like this risk weaker border security, freezing deportations, and more drugs flowing into our communities. If you want strong, conservative leadership that won’t back down, I’m asking for your vote in the upcoming Republican Primary. Vote Tom Willis for U.S. Senate on May 12.

Standout elementYellow-highlighted Guardian article phrases — 'Republicans ultimately conceded' and 'Chuck Schumer welcomed the funding package' — weaponized as damning evidence against the opponent
TacticThe ad uses a real Guardian news screenshot with selective yellow highlighting to make the liberal media's celebration of Republican concession do the attack work, lending third-party credibility to the claim that Capito betrayed conservatives on ICE funding.
