A very busy day at the State House. It began with Honoring the First Robotics programs throughout the state. I coached several First LEGO robotics teams when my children were younger and at Happy Hollow schools. Next I offered a Paid Family and Medical Leave program be established with 50 cents to $2 deductions from you paycheck to allow mom's to stay home with a newborn, individuals to care for loved ones or individuals to take advantage of a much needed partial wage replacement when needed. Finally I filed to run for office. I hope that I can count on your support to continue to be the State Representative for District 26. @ State Rep. Chris Campbell

This week marks the 100 year anniversary of the 19th Amendment of the Constitution giving women the right to vote. I took some photos at the Indiana State museum and noticed the first reason listed on a poster for the suffragette movement was to give women the right to be in the decision process of children's education. This was one of my top reasons I ran and will continue to fight for in Indiana.

Teachers in the State House today! Listening to what our teachers need in our schools is the reason I ran for State Representative. I'll continue to listen and fight for education! It's the most important investment any state could make!

In order to get to know you and learn more about the needs of our community I have spent the summer and fall meeting constituents at as many local events as possible, and have been particularly interested in education-related events. Tippecanoe County has many advantages such as three great school systems, good local government, and low unemployment. These strengths will help us address the challenges we face, including mental health and substance abuse issues, an overcrowded and understaffed jail, and the need for more fire-fighters and law enforcement. Across the state we need to work on educational budget shortfalls in order to give teachers the wages they deserve for helping our children thrive and grow. We also need more mental health providers and wider access to affordable health care. November 19th was Organization Day, the official opening of the 2019 Legislative Session here in Indiana. The 2020 session opens on January 6th and will continue into early March. My conversations with you have only strengthened my commitment to work on your behalf on nine bills addressing our needs such as Paid Family Leave and a Tax Holiday for School Supplies I will be co-authoring additional legislation as well. I am excited about the coming session as we work together to make Indiana a better place for all Hoosiers, and hope to continue serving you after the 2020 election. The 2021 has adjourned until redistricting later this year. The 2021 budget passed with the help of Federal dollars will finally help boost teacher pay in Indiana. The bipartisan police reform bill HB 1006 also passed unanimously will start to move the state in a positive direction by banning choke holds, require body cams and create a data base to help remove bad players from the force and help communities find the best officers for their communities. After a year of struggles Indiana will provide grants to help small businesses. We still have a lot of work to do in Indiana. I want to continue to fight for the issues that are important in Indiana for district 26.
